Unfortunately it’s been an uneventful weekend this week. The dreaded bug finally got to Alfie who has been poorly all weekend. He was sent home from nursery on Thursday after being sick and couldn’t return on Friday, which meant Mummy had to take a impromptu day off work!
After a restless night Friday, battling a high temperature all night, Alfie seemed to chirp up a bit in the morning. Nanny and Granddad came round for lunch and he clearly wasn’t himself and even ended up having a little nap. Nanny got lots of cuddles though!
I was hoping Alfie would perk up in the afternoon but he just got worse and so I had to cancel a night out that I had really been looking forward to.
Alfie went to bed later than usual at 8pm and then woke up at 11pm. He was still going at 3am! It was an awful night – not because he was poorly but because he seemed to be better and thought it was playtime!
Every time we put him in his cot, he screamed so eventually, once he’d finished playing with the football, the zebra, his building blocks and his musical instruments, he came in bed with us. Third night running. We had to sleep and this is the only way it was going to happen.
Sunday started early for me at 7am (which is very early when we didn’t go to bed until 3am!) but Alfie seemed to have perked up.
Daddy was going out for the day to watch the rugby, so Mummy and Alfie went to finish our Christmas shopping! Alfie was really good and didn’t complain until it got to lunch time!!
We then had a chilled afternoon playing with all his toys on the lounge floor. Sometimes kids can have the best time just building up and knocking down his bricks over and over (and over and over) again!
We also made some jelly for our dessert, however we didn’t make it early enough so we couldn’t have it on Sunday evening, but we are looking forward to having it tonight!
It’s always such a shame when our weekends our wiped out by illness, but luckily we have the week off work this week! I have LOTS of activities planned, so hopefully we can make up for this lost time and still have lots of fun. I won’t be blogging this week so I can enjoy the time off with my family, but I’ll be back next week with an epic Times To Treasure post.
Have a great week!
