My wardrobe needed some serious updating this winter – and not just with Christmas jumpers! So when I was asked by Fashion World to pick some new winter warmers, I couldn’t wait to chose some new, stylish winter clothes. I was looking for items that aren’t necessarily going to be every day clothes. Something that wasn’t part of my “mum wardrobe”. Whilst I need to be comfy and cosy for every day wear, now the boys are getting older I’m able to claim a few hours for myself here and there (sometimes…) so I wanted to have a few smart casual pieces in my wardrobe that I could wear on lunches out with friends, brithdays trips to London or even the odd cinema date with my husband!
The Fashion World website is fantastic. So easy to navigate and so.much.choice. It really was tough to pick what I wanted – I wanted it all!!! And even better, they are such reasonable prices, I was able to get a lot for my money.
First up, I had a date with my husband for his 30th birthday. We were going out for a meal together, just the two of us. It was on a week day but to a nice restaurant, so I wanted something smart but not too dressy. I chose this gorgeous mustard floral dress with frilly hem detail. It is a mock wrap so it gives a lovely shape (read: showed off my cleavage!) and I liked that the sleeves were long and loose as they were very flattering. The only downside was I found the sizing came up a bit big. I’m usually a size 12 in most stuff, which is what I ordered but I definitely could have got away with a 10. I wore a skinny brown belt with it which cinched in the waist and helped it fit better. I did forgo tights because it looked better with my nude heels, however it also looked great with black tights. I know this dress will also look awesome in the summer!
I also recently spent the weekend in London as part of my husband’s birthday celebrations. We had the whole weekend child free, so made the most of it with a trip to Junkyard Golf in Brick Land, followed by a wander around Tower Bridge before we checked in to our hotel. I was wearing the most gorgeous, comfy outfit from Fashion World.
I chose a pair of black high waisted Lucy jeans and they have quickly become my favourite pair of jeans! Because they are high waisted, they keep everything in place and don’t dig in at all. I teamed them with a gorgeous wine coloured Bardot jumper. It is so thick and warm, I didn’t even need to wear a coat! I then chose a pair of dark brown wedge boots. They were cushion fit so kept my feet nicely protected from walking round London. I must admit, I did have blisters by the end of the day as I think they were slightly too small so make sure you measure your fit properly and go by the fit guide on the website. I am hoping that it was just my stupidity at not wearing them in before I wore them round London all day and I will be able to wear them again!
My final outfit was one I bought without a particular event in mind. I have however found it to be a lovely dress for just about anything! Black in colour, with a white leaf print on it, the dress is a great length for running round after the kids, so I could wear it to soft play, out for lunch with my mum friends or for a walk round the local farm.
It’s also smart enough that I could wear it for a cinema date with hubby or even when I go back to work. Again, this was slightly too big for me and I could have got away with wearing a size 10 instead of a 12 but a belt cinched it in and was very flattering. The top part was button down which meant I was able to breastfeed Henry in it! It also means that if I am pumping when I go back to work, this will make a great dress to wear to pump in.
Even though I was sent these clothes in return for this review, I am always honest and really love these clothes! With the exception of the boots which did hurt my feet, everything was so comfy and it’s also all washed really well. The clothes are great quality – the black dress is a slightly thin so you’d need tights on with it in the winter but still a fab dress! I have since been searching the Fashion World website for more key pieces to add to my winter wardrobe.
