Since having Henry, I’ve been more determined to do some exercise and get back in to shape. This is not only to do with the way I look – it would be nice to tone up and lose some of my wobbly bits, but overall I’m pretty relaxed about how I look. For me, it’s about my fitness and body strength. That’s why I’m starting an exercise plan, and finally getting my exercise on! Hunkmoller have kindly sent me a sports bra to try out, meaning I can exercise in comfort.
Producing two big children (Alfie was 10lb 3oz and Henry was 8lb 6oz) has affected my body in more ways than just my weight. Having two c-sections means my stomach muscles are shot and I’m sure carrying two heavy babies has killed my back too. Not to mention actually lugging around an 18kg toddler, quite often at the same time as an 18lb baby! I do a lot of babywearing and it’s definitely not as comfortable with Henry as it was with Alfie and I’m certain that’s because my back is not as strong.
I started buggy bootcamp back in June and after a break over the summer, I’m going back to it next week. I’m also planning on starting our local park run. This is a free event that happens in various locations around the country, run entirely by volunteers. It’s a fab way to encourage people to get out and exercise. The routes are all planned out for you and you also get timed so you know how you’re doing. They are always 5k long so a decent distance to get your exercise in.
When it arrived, I was excited to jump in and try it on immediately! I am a bit of a sucker for nice packaging and this didn’t disappoint! It was so pretty I almost didn’t want to ruin it by opening it! But I did, and the bright blue colour of the bra immediately jumped out at me. It was gorgeous!
I needed a bit of help getting it on due to the way the straps are – I’ll admit I got myself in a bit of a pickle trying to figure out where my arms go and how to do up the back. There are two straps that cross over lower down your body, but when you’re as squishy as me, these were not comfortable at all! My skin just rolled over the top and quite frankly looked and felt awful!
However, it was quite easy to pull these up and sit them underneath my bust. To be honest, I think this was actually much better as it gave me more support and stopped my breasts from jiggling about. I felt really comfortable and most importantly, secure.
Although I haven’t started my park run yet, I wanted to test out the bra in action, so I went for a little run around my village. Aside from the fact I felt like I was going to keel over in the street, it was a great tester for the bra!
The most important factor of a sports bra is keeping your busy under control and this more than did the job. At a 32FF, I would say I have more than an ample boosom (thanks mostly to breastfeeding!) so I was able to really put the bra to the test and it was great. I also found that it didn’t hold my sweat too much – lots of bras I’ve worn before give me massive under boob sweat, but this was really good at keeping me fresh. This was great when I needed to feed Henry as soon as I got back without worrying about being all sweaty.
Overall I found the bra very comfortable and more than up to the job. I have high hopes that it is going to support me in my quest to get fit, exercise more and improve my strength.
Check out the range of Xenia sports wear on the Hunkemoller website, you won’t be disappointed!
Disclosure: I was sent this bra for the purpose of this review but all opinions are my own.
