I realise I am really late posting August’s times to treasure update, and even later posting July’s!! So I’m going to do a round up of both months together – it might be a long one as we have done so much over the past two months, it’s been crazy!
July and August are very busy month for us with birthdays. Alfie’s twin cousins were born 4 days before him, so we always have a couple of weeks of birthday parties and celebrations to attend! This year, the twins celebrated at the zoo! We love going to the zoo, and used this opportunity to renew our annual passes so we can vist as often as we like. We were very lucky with the weather, and have a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Then it was of course time for the main man himself to enjoy turning 2! I haven’t really written much about Alfie’s birthday celebrations, purely because we were so busy planning and enjoying them, there wasn’t much time to write about it! I planned lovely bbq bash for him, that doubled as our house warming party. We invited close family and friends to celebrate with a RaRa the Noisy Lion themed party. I had so much fun planning this, although it was much more low key than my normal party planning due to being pregnant and suffering morning sickness (that I had to keep secret as we hadn’t announced our pregnancy yet!) I did however take the day off work to make Alfie’s birthday cake which I was super impressed by. I also ordered a personalised tshirt for Alfie from the super talented Clare at Sew A Little Happiness. I order all my important occasion cards from there, but she also makes other bits and pieces and it’s where we bought his birthday tshirt from last year too. We all had a fab day and Alfie thoroughly enjoyed himself!
Then for his actual birthday we took a mini break to Peppa Pig World! I will do a separate post about our little holiday, but we had a fabulous time and Alfie really enjoyed himself!
The weekend we got back we then attended the birthday party of one of Alfie’s friends who also turned 2 in July. It was a brilliant Trolls themed party and Alfie had a great time catching up with his (not so) baby friends – and I equally enjoyed catching up with the mums. Since being back at work, we don’t all get together as much as we’d like to, so when we do it is really nice to catch up. Since our last gathering we’ve had 2 weddings and an engagement, so there was lots to talk about! I was dying to break my pregnancy news to them, but it was a bit too early.
And finally in August, we had my oldest nephew’s 7th birthday. My sister hosted a bbq at home and it was lovely and relaxed, catching up with family and enjoying some good food.
A pretty big event in July and August was our baby announcement! We waited a lot longer than usual to announce our pregnancy as we were still getting over the shock ourselves! We told our parents first by dressing Alfie in the cutest “Big Brother” tshirt and letting them figure it out. Craig’s dad was completely shocked but my mum replied with a “oh we all guessed ages ago!”.
We then put together a little superhero themed photo to send to our siblings and friends on WhatsApp and finally share on Facebook. You can check out my announcement post here!
My big brother got married in August so we had a lovely day celebrating with all the family. I was stressing for weeks in advance about what to wear because I was 16 weeks pregnant and nothing I already fitted but I wasn’t quite big enough yet for maternity clothes! Then my sister in law came to the rescue with a beautiful dress that was perfect and I loved! I also treated myself to havingmy hair done and it looked fantastic!
Alfie was an absolute dream and so we’ll behaved all day. He’s a sociable little thing and was chatting to anyone and everyone! It was exhausting running round after him, but he conked out at 9pm so I could enjoy a sit down and some cake!
The venue was AMAZING! Set in the middle of the woods, it was very rustic and different. My brother and his wife had worked really hard to out it all together and it really did look brilliant.
The bank holiday weekend was a mixture of busy days and chilled days which was nice. Alfie had his sports day at nursery on the Friday afternoon and it was brilliant. The nursery girls work so hard to put on these events for the parents to attend and Alfie had such a good time doing his running!
Then we had the wedding on Saturday and Daddy was feeling a bit worse for wear on Sunday so I took Alfie to a local festival that was being put on by the council. It was a free event and the first time they had done it but it was great fun and there was lots to do.
On Monday Daddy was at work so Alfie and I had a day at home. Luckily the summer decided to make an appearance and we got the paddling pool out for the first (and last!) time this summer. Alfie found it hilarious to go swimming and up and down his slide. I also put together his water table and he loved it!
So another busy few months for us! I can’t wait to see what September brings…
