In just over two weeks time, my beautiful first born with be turning 4. FOUR!! I don’t know where the time has gone! This means that I get to plan his fourth birthday party, and we all know how much I love a party planning session! So far I’ve planned a teddy bear’s picnic, a RaaRaa jungle party and a Maui/Moana party, so I was excited to get started on this year’s theme! I have been lucky enough to work with Pound Toy who have given me a voucher to make Alfie’s birthday party extra special, so some of the products in this post will have been kindly gifted to us. Pound Toy are the perfect website for creating a fabulous birthday party – everything you need from tableware, to decorations, to party bags can be found! Alfie has decided he wants a Power Rangers party this year, so that how I came about planning a Power Rangers Birthday party with Pound Toy.
For my pre-party prep, I’ve had to decide the following:
- Party Bags
The theme was easy – I just asked Alfie what he wanted, and this is what he decided. I asked numerous times to make sure this was definitely what he wanted and he was sure, so Power Rangers it was! However, this was the only thing that was easy about the theme! Power Rangers is pretty old school, so there’s not much merchandise around, such as plates and cups etc. However, in hindsight, this turned out to be a good thing as I then decided to do lunchboxes which should make my life easier in terms of prep and clearing up!
Pinterest was clearly my friend when deciding on the decoration, and Pound Toy was a saviour when it came to getting all my decs! Because of the lack of themed items, I decided to go for a primary colour scheme instead – red, blue, yellow, pink and green – all the colours of the Power Rangers! I bought coloured streamers and balloons from Pound Toy in an attempt to recreate a backdrop I have seen on Pinterest – I won’t spoil the final effect, but I’m hoping it will look great! I am going to do this behind the food table indoors, so this will just have the lunchboxes and cake as the centerpiece.
The majority of the party will be outside, so I’ve bought some Power Rangers banners and have some bright coloured string lights from Alfie’s Maui party last year to put up. There will be a few more balloons and that’s the outside sorted!
As I said above, I decided to simplify my life and do lunchboxes. I have ordered bright coloured boxes in the primary colours of the Power Rangers, and I’ll probably put a sticker of some kind on them to make them on theme. Inside, there will be a sandwich of choice, some fruit, a squeezy yoghurt, a sausage roll, a packet of crisps and a mini chocolate bar/treat.
I love organising party bags and always take the time to make sure it’s something on theme, but fun and/or useful for the kids. Pound Toy were the perfect website to order from. They have such a HUGE collection of items that are great for your party bags, and lots of things to match certain themes as well. This year, I’ve created paper bags with Power Ranger stickers on (I simply printed off the image from Google and stuck it on a paper bag!) and then have included these fab superhero and villain colouring sets, along with a giant punch balloon and a sweet treat!
Originally I had planned to hire an entertainer, however it turns out I left it too late and everyone was booked up! So I’ve had to create my own entertainment. I’m planning a Power Rangers Training Camp! I don’t want to give too much away because I want the guests to have a bit of a surprise, but I can share the little prizes I have bought for certain games. These all came from Pound Toy and are the perfect mini prizes for the winners of our games! I have a feeling that Alfie might try and claim a few of these as his own before the party begins anyway.
For me, the whole party revolves around the cake! I love designing and making my children’s birthday cakes. I’ve done it since Alfie’s 2nd birthday and it’s the one thing I’ll vow to do forever! This year I’m not sharing my design in advance because it will likely change, bit one thing is for sure – after the disaster at Henry’s birthday (click here to see what I’m talking about!) I won’t be carrying this cake anywhere!!! I’m also going to do cupcakes as dessert after lunch, so I’ve got some cake toppers to go on them (although I didn’t realise I’d have to cut them out, so we’ll see if I manage to do that!!)
So I’ve got a week to finish my party prep, and organise the rest of Alfie’s birthday bits, along with cleaning and sorting the house, decorating, making the cake and attending various school events – oh, and I still have a full time job to do. Wish me luck!
I’ll do an updated post after his party with lots of pretty photos!
