If you’ve just moved, you’re probably going have a list of things as long as your arm that you want to change – we certainly do! One thing I’m desperate for is a bedroom makeover. I think it’s really important to have a bedroom that feels cosy and inviting. It’s nice to have somewhere you can relax at night, a little haven where you can grab 5 minutes peace and quiet, and shut the door in the stresses of the day. Our bedroom should be a sanctuary. I know, what kind of parents gets that kind of luck?! But we’ve finally got Alfie sleeping in his bed all night, no longer creeping into our bed at night, so it’s time we took back OUR space and created something we want – no toddler’s allowed!!
I have lots of ideas, and fortunately there is no major work that needs doing. It will just be a lick of paint, some wallpaper and then some accessories! I’ve been looking at different colour schemes, and would love a grey and duck egg palette. I think it would then be easy to change accessories with the seasons/trends without having to spend loads of money if you’re not able to.
Here are a few things on my wishlist to give the room a bit of life:
We currently have some old curtains in our room that came from our first house. They are lovely and hang nicely, but the colour is a bit boring so I’d definitely want some new ones! I love pencil pleat curtains because they really help block out the light. Because of the way they are fitted at the top, they tend to hang much better, meaning the light can’t get through at the top or sides. They also look brilliant when they are pulled back and make the room look pretty and tidy! Curtains are so easy to change, but create a focal point for any bedroom, especially our room as they’re the first thing you see once you’re in the room. One place I’ve found to get pencil pleat curtains from is Yorkshire Linen. I adore this set, and think they would look great in our bedroom.
I’m desperate for a gorgeous floor lamp! We will be getting rid of our chest of drawers once we have a new wardrobe, so I would love a floor lamp to go in that corner instead. I love these big industrial type lamps. I think they are modern, and look good, but also give out good light. I love this lamp from Wayfair (I’ll have to start saving my pennies though!)
I think a chair would also look fab in the corner of our bedroom under the lamp. I can sit and read or blog whilst curled up in peace and quiet (yes, I can dream!) I’ve always wanted a chair like this one from John Lewis, I think they are so classic and look comfy!
We have the most gorgeous Egyptian cotton sheets for our bed which I love! They are my favourite bedsheets, but they were very expensive. I’d love a second set though in a different colour. If we had duck egg blue walls, I think these sheets from Debenhams would go very nicely!
I like to have a clock in my bedroom as I’m obsessed with knowing what the time is (doesn’t ever help me be on time though…). I love this duck egg coloured clock from Red Candy. It looks like a good size and the colour is amazing!
I’m really looking forward to being able to implement some of these ideas and make our new bedroom lovely and cosy – but most importantly, put our own stamp on it!
How have you decorated your bedroom? What’s your favourite feature or accessory?
