I love Easter – the only time of year other than Christmas and your birthday that you can eat chocolate all day long without feeling guilty about it! We always used to have a bit of a tradition at Easter in our house – it was just a big a celebration as Christmas. Every year we would go to church in the morning, where we would learn about the story of Easter, and usually make some kind of craft in Sunday school. Then we would all be given a creme egg by the vicar as we left the church. After a cup of tea and biscuit in the vestry hall, we would all pile round my nan’s for a huge roast dinner of lamb and a small glass of wine. Then we’d exchange eggs in the afternoon and all the kids would run around hyped up on sugar!
Last year was Alfie’s first Easter, and we didn’t manage to make it to church, but we did follow one of Daddy’s traditions instead – an Easter egg hunt around the house. He used to do it every year as a child with his dad and brothers, and so was excited to recreate this for Alfie (and Mummy)! This year we hope to do the same with a homemade Easter egg hunt.
However, we would also like to attend a big Easter Egg hunt somewhere local now that Alfie is up and running and old enough to join in. So I’ve asked on my local mum facebook groups for suggestions of places to visit, and have come up with the following list. They all look like brilliant places to visit, from big organised events at popular local attractions, to smaller locally organised fetes, so it’s going to be hard to decide where to go!
