We always knew that we were going to get Henry christened. It’s something that is really important to me and we had Alfie christened at 4 months old. I’d have liked to have had Henry baptised around the same age, but by the time we got around to booking the church, we couldn’t get a date that everyone important could attend until October! But actually it’s probably worked out better doing it then as it’s meant a bit longer for me to organise it all and also spread the cost over a few months!
Now the church is booked, I have started to think about the rest of the organising – food, cake, invites, decorations! So it was perfect timing for Roco Clothing to contact me and ask if we wanted to review some outfits for the boys. I had considered dressing Henry in Alfie’s christening outfit but actually he lives in his hand me downs every day, so it would be lovely for him to have a special outfit for his special day! With the Royal wedding of Harry and Meghan fresh in my mind, I wanted my children to look as smart and cute as the page boys at the wedding.
Roco Clothing has a huge selection of clothing for special occasions – be it a christening or holy communion, a wedding guest or a page boy or bridesmaid, you will be sure to find the perfect outfit for your child. They cater for babies starting at 3 months right up to age 14.
I started by looking for an outfit for Henry – it was his special day after all! After much deliberation and decision making with my husband, we chose the stunning Emile et Rose Simon stone shirt and short set (£59.99). I liked that it was simple but smart and actually looked like a christening outfit rather than just a smart outfit. I think it’s so much easier to find a traditional outfit for a girl, and boys ones can tend to be a bit old fashioned. I love that this set is modern yet traditional and I couldn’t wait to try it out on Henry.
As his christening isn’t for a few months, I’ve ordered a bigger size, so it is currently too big for him. I found the sizing on the small side. I originally ordered size 6 months and when it arrived it fitted Henry perfectly even though he is just 4 months. So because he’ll be a lot bigger by October, I exchanged it for the next size up. However, just by looking at these photos, I can tell he is going to look super cute in his outfit on the day. The material is beautiful, yet very comfortable. Henry was able to move comfortably wearing the outfit and I’m confident that if he is crawling by the time his christening comes round, he will be able to get round quickly and easily.
With the main man sorted, next I needed to kit out his big brother. I think he is going to feel a bit left out on the day, so a lovely new suit will definitely help him to feel included. I love matching Alfie with his Daddy, so when picking a suit, I went for something that I could also find a matching suit for Craig. It was so hard to choose as there was such a lovely selection of suits. We went for the Paisley of London Navy Blue Monaco suit and it was as gorgeous as I expected it to be. It arrived in the cutest suit bag, and Alfie instantly wanted to try it on and pose for me!
Again, as we need it to fit in October, I bought a size up. I measured Alfie using the guide online, and went for age 3. However, when this arrived, it fitted him perfectly. I don’t know if this was down to my poor measuring (it’s hard when he doesn’t stay still!!!) or if the outfit comes up small, but I had to return it and get an age 4 instead. This is a much better fit in that it is slightly too big so should be perfect for the actual event. Although Alfie is only 2, he is on the big side and currently wears age 4-5.
The suit is a beautiful five piece outfit – trousers, shirt, waistcoat, jacket and tie. I love that he can wear the complete outfit, or just the shirt, or just the shirt and waistcoat. Alfie LOVED wearing the tie, he felt so grown up and kept asking to look in the mirror! I also put in the pocket square but I don’t think I put it in right, so I’ll google it before the big day!
I also got these beautiful Paisley of London Oxford tan shoes to go with the outfit too. They are really similar to a pair Craig has, and again, I love a bit of matchy matchy! They are such good quality, and fit really well. Again, Alfie loved wearing them and didn’t want to take them off. He said they were comfortable so I’m hoping they’ll be good for the whole day.
Overall, I am super impressed with the service from Roco Clothing. Every item was beautifully made and without being that over-enthusiastic parent – my children looked so handsome. My heart wanted to burst with pride as how cute they looked. The delivery was super quick and the quality of the clothes was outstanding. Whilst you might look at the prices and think they are a bit expensive, when you price up the cost of a suit or outfit from popular high street stores, there is not much difference in price but the quality is so much better.
We might not have a royal wedding to attend, but I’m certain my children are dressed well enough to be invited to the next royal occasion! Roco Clothing are throwing a fantastic competition to celebrate Harry and Meghan’s nuptials. One lucky winner will a fabulous trip for two to Lodon!
