The past few weeks have been HOT. Like holiday-on-a-beach-and-I-just-want-to-live-in-a-bikini hot! I think this might be what we call….summer? It’s been amazing to have such lovely weather, but keeping two young kids cool in this heat is hard! It’s difficult not to just stay indoors and out of the sun completely but it’s a shame to waste such wonderful weather as we don’t know how long it will last. With that in mind, we’ve been searching out the best outdoor splash parks and pools in Essex!
And what do you need when visiting these outdoor pools? Swimwear of course! Which is why I was so pleased to be sent this gorgeous Pour Moi Barracuda Underwired Bikini Top and Pour Moi Barracuda Fold Brief from UK Swimwear. It’s so beautiful! The tropical design is perfect for this hot weather and the fold up design of the bikini is great for covering your tummy if you wish to. I went for an underwired bikini top as no doubt I’ll be running around after the kids rather than sitting down and relaxing so it needs to be supportive as well as looking good!
So whilst I am waiting for our holiday to come round, here’s where we’ll be heading to cool down and show off our swimwear:
This place was refurbished a few years ago and it’s fantastic! We first took Alfie when he was a year old but haven’t been back since. We thought the glorious weather was the perfect excuse to take both boys and we had a brilliant time. Henry wasn’t a huge fan of the water because it is quite cold but Alfie had a blast!
You can now book online, which is advised, especially during the summer holidays. There is a limited number of spaces which is great because it means it doesn’t get too busy, but you have to be quick to secure a space! There is a large paddling pool, a huge sandpit and a climbing frame so plenty to keep the kids occupied. You can’t take in your own food but there is a lovely café and it’s not too expensive either.
This amazing addition to the country farm has just opened this summer. We were invited as members to the open evening but unfortunately we didn’t make it which I was gutted about! We are hoping to head there really soon. They have set up a huge paddling pool on a beach with lots of deck chairs around. This is all included in the entrance price, so it’s just an added extra to an already fantastic day out! Open until 3rd September, it’s the perfect place to spend the summer holidays.
This is has always been one of our favourite places to visit, and we go pretty much every week. The splash park is a massive draw in this weather, and Alfie never gets bored! Henry is still too young to appreciate it, but he likes to sit and have a splash whilst watching Alfie run around! For £2.50, you get 20-30 minutes of splash time. There is a wristband system which means it doesn’t get too overcrowded and keeps the kids safe and secure. It really is fantastic value for money and the perfect way to cool down in this heatwave.
I only recently found out about this place and my god, it is a hidden gem! An open air lido in Brightlingsea, this is a lovely place to spend the morning, afternoon or all day if you wish! Open every day, from 11am, adults cost just £4 and children over 2 are £3. You have to get there early though as demand is high during the school holidays and once they’re full, it’s a one in, one out policy.
I hope you find this useful to find somewhere to cool down in Essex over the summer holidays!
