Back To Work Make Up Regime

My return to work after a years maternity leave is fast approaching, and with it is the realisation that I need to get myself, my husband and two children washed, dressed and fed by 7am each morning! To make this work, I’m going to need to organise myself as much as possible and part of that will be streamlining my getting ready routine so I’m thinking about my back to work make up regime.

Make up

I’m not a huge make up wearer usually – if I’m at home or just out and about with the kids I go make up free. I don’t have the time to put on a face every day and to be honest it’s so much better for my skin to not be caked in make up. I often get told I look really young for my age (which I used to hate, but with the big 3 – 0 looming, I don’t tire of hearing it now!), and I think the reason is because I don’t wear a lot of make up.

Make Up
However, when I’m working I do like to have a bit of make up on as I work in a professional office and I think it just looks nicer. So I’m going to try some new things to see if I can create a nice make up look in less time and without clogging up my skin!

The first thing I’m looking at is BB Creams. I’ve read about these before but was never really sure what they were or the point of them. After reading a recent article, I found it really helpful to discover what a bb cream is and the best ones around. I’ve now picked up the Rimmel one to see how I get on with it, but I’d love to try the La Roche-Posay as we use the soothing balm as nappy rash cream and it’s brilliant!

The next thing I’d like to try is a new mascara. I’ve used a Max Factor one for ages, and whilst it’s good, it would be nice to try a new one! After watching Gorgeous George’s Mama’s instastories the other day and gushing over her amazing eyelashes, I’m going to give this one a go. It’s only from George at Asda, and was so cheap so no bother if it doesn’t work but I’m hoping it will give my stubby lashes a little boost.

I love my eyeliner that I use, so I’m going to continue using this as I feel this gives my eyes a little boost! I don’t usually wear eyeshadow on a daily basis, but I’m going to try wearing lipgloss more often to finish off my casual work look. I love the Benefit ones as they’re small and easy to pop in my handbag.

I’d love to be a bit more fancy and curl my hair and wear lovely Jewellery and nice clothes and heels – just to make me feel more “grown up” and less mumsy when I’m at work. However, the reality is I’m going to have probably 30 minutes at 5 o’clock in the morning to get ready so it’s going to be a case of “presentable” rather than “fancy” most mornings! But I’m hoping these small changes will help me feel organised in the morning and make me look at least half human for a day at work.

What’s your morning routine? Any top tips for speedy regimes?
