Every year I look forward to celebrating Father’s Day. I try to tell my husband often what a fabulous father he is to our children, but I really like having Father’s Day to show him that extra special bit of appreciation for everything he does for us. We are a 50/50 team and he does as much for the children and around the house as I do – if not more. So I always try and book somewhere nice for lunch or organise a day out that he will enjoy with the kids for Father’s Day. A Sunday roast and cold cider is usually all he asks for! One thing I do struggle with though is gift ideas for Father’s Day.
Shopping for presents is usually quite difficult – he has everything he needs or wants and thinking of something new every year can be hard! My husband is NOT sentimental, so something personalised from the kids is rarely appreciated. He doesn’t often treat himself though or take time out for himself so I always try to go for a techy gift or an experience that he will enjoy. This year I’ve been searching for gifts for him – and also my own dad and father-in-law – that are a bit different, something he wouldn’t buy himself and nothing *too* smushy! Here’s what I’ve come up with! Any products gifted to me for the purpose of this gift guide are marked with a * but all products have been included because we would genuinely use and like them.
If your partner, or dad, is in to gaming, these would be the perfect gift for them! The TX Range specifically meets the demands for the new generation of console and gamers. The new TX-40 offers robust design, encompassing real steel, copper plated extenders with a light, flexible and comfortable headband. These can also be used for mobile and music as well as gaming.
If you have a wine buff in the family, then this is a lovely gift to present them with. Not only do you receive a vintage Bordeaux wine, but you also receive a newspaper from a special date. Perhaps this could be the date your child was born and your partner became a dad, or maybe the date of their first Father’s Day….you can chose any date you want! I love this idea because it’s sentimental but not too mushy.
If you have someone to buy for who really does have everything, why not give the gift of an experience instead! With Red Letter Days you can chose a specific experience, like the Thames Rocket PowerBoating experience, but they are still able to pick a time and date that suits them. Alternatively, you can give a themed voucher which will allow the recipient to choose from a number of different experience
If you partner is anything like my husband, they’re very particular about their wallet….much like I am about my purse! When I was offered this gift set from Mainline, I knew it would be perfect for Craig! It’s a great size and has a number of different slots for cards. The card holder is a great extra for when you are going out and might only want to take one or two cards with you. My favourite thing when I opened this gift set was the smell (mmmm, leather!)
I have always been a huge fan of Love Layla cards for a unique and extremely funny twist on any occasion. Father’s Day is no exception and I buy for my husband, my dad and my father in law from here. If you’re not easy offended, and love a rude message or two, you will love this shop! They don’t just stop at cards now – you can also get other merchandise like gift bags, gift wraps, pens, notebooks and balloons! Last order date for Father’s Day is 11th June, so don’t leave it too late!
Whether your dad sports a beard or is clean shaven, there a razor out there for everyone!
The new Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Sense razor has shock-absorb technology which auto-adjusts the amount of pressure it is putting on your face, Glgiving you the ultimate customised shave. This will be perfect for when Craig wants to be clean shaven. The Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Groomer is great for those dads who have a beard but like to keep it trim and tidy. There’s something for everyone in this range!
My dad LOVES a handwarmer. Being a lorry driver who does nights, it can get cold, so having a device like this is ideal for him to take to work to keep his hands warm AND be a back up power supply when he needs it! With warm hands at the press of a button, this dependable and rechargeable hand warmer keeps you warm for up to 6 hours! The convenient power bank feature also recharges your USB compatible device, so you can stay connected when you need it most.
One of Craig’s “jobs” around the house is doing the washing up (the one job I HATE so he does it more often than not) and he loves to listen to music when he’s in the kitchen so the Amazon Echo is great for him. He can switch songs, pause, restart, put on timers if he’s cooking, set reminders and so much more all just speaking to Alexa. This really is one of my best buys and a great gift for dads all round.
I don’t think I rave about these bottles enough…with everyone thinking more about their single plastic usage, one of the easiest and quickest swaps is buying a reusable bottle. There are a range of different sizes, some are insulated so keep drinks hot or cold for hours, the cafe cap is ideal for commuting as you can drink from the lid and they are all leak proof! We have a number of different ones suitable for the whole family, so you’ll definitely find one for dad that ticks all the boxes depending what their requirements are. We buy ours from Babi Pur, and they’re in sale at the moment!
Craig has been collecting these for a few years and they’re a great gift as new ones comes out all the time! Alfie loves playing with these too, so I’m hoping they might be a nice thing to pass down in the future once he’s got a massive collection! There are lots of different ranges too, not just superheros so again, you’ll be able to find something to suit most interests!
If you’ve got a creative man on your hands, then these Derwent Graphic pencils are the perfect gift for Father’s Day this year. The Derwent Graphic range boasts 24 pencils in a variety of strengths for sketching, doodling and illustrations of all types. Hours of creativity guaranteed, no matter where creativity strikes! And what better place to keep them than this beautiful and handy pencil roll – the perfect accompaniment.
