With Henry’s first birthday at the end of January, I have found it so hard to buy him birthday gifts! Not only is his birthday just after Christmas, so he got lots of lovely presents from Father Christmas, but being a second child, he has sooooo much stuff! I don’t want to buy gifts just for the sake of buying, but I do want to get him something so I’ve had to really think outside the box to get him a variety of different toys, clothes and experiences. I’ve come up with a first birthday gift guide that should feature a whole host of different ideas for babies who already have it all!!
When I came across this album, I thought it was such a good idea! A photo album made out of fabric, you can print 5 photos with accompanying text which means you can print family photos, detailing your family members like I have done, or you can even create your own little story with words and text. I can give this to Henry to look at without worrying he’s going to eat it or rip the pages – and it’s wonderful watching Alfie showing Henry the photos too! A really lovely gift idea for babies that have everything!
I don’t know if Steiff bears are as popular as they were when I was a child, but I remember them being a really special keepsake gift for a baby. So I loved receiving this gorgeous Steiff bear for Henry. It’s a lovely addition to his nursery and whilst I don’t think I’ll let him play with it, he has a cuddle every now and again! I love that it’s something he can keep and perhaps pass down to his own children in years to come.
We were lucky enough to be gifted this gorgeous blanket. It’s huge! It was tough to choose which photos to pick, but I went for a selection of photos from the last 12 months. The blanket is a beautiful soft fleece and the photos look fabulous. For the price, it’s really good quality and I was so pleased with it. It’s a lovely item for Henry to use now in his pram and then when he’s older and outgrown it, I can keep it in his memory box.
I am a huge fan of baby keepsakes (or hoarder as my husband would say!) but I haven’t bought anything nice to keep them in yet. Until I can across this gorgeous memory box! I chose my favourite baby photo from Henry’s newborn shoot and it looks fantastic on the leather box. It’s the perfect size for Henry’s scan photos, newborn hat and hospital bracelets, his cord tie and his first outfit.
I have to admit, I was very organised and bought Henry’s first birthday present last year before he was actually born (yes, I’m a bit extra…) It was such a bargain and I thought it would be perfect for his birthday as Alfie has his own trike so I imagined us taking them out together! It is definitely proving a hit already.
Birthday Cake Smash
An experience is always a great present when your child already has everything! We did a DIY cake smash for Alfie, but decided to go pro for Henry’s shoot (mainly because it’s January so needed to be indoors and I didn’t want to deal with the mess!!) We have a lovely photographer that we regularly go to for photoshoots, so it was a no brainer that we’d book a cake smash with them. Henry had a brilliant time and the photos were fab! I will share more in a post soon.
Next size clothes
Kids will always need clothes, so this is my fall back when people ask what to buy and we don’t actually know what to say! I tend to size up so they have things to go grow in to, and managed to buy the beautiful set of Fred & Noah leggings for Henry! I Iove them and they’re such good quality.
We are huge fans of books in this house – we have a huge box full of them. So I loved being sent this gorgeous book for Henry’s birthday. The title of the book is pretty ironic seeing as how my boys DON’T sleep, but it’s a really lovely little story and I love snuggling up with Henry and Alfie at bedtime reading to them. A perfect book for a first birthday.
So these are just a few ideas of what to buy the baby that has everything! In reality, there is no point buying for the sake of buying, so if they really don’t need anything, stick some money in an account, take them out for the day and wrap up some toys just so they have something to open!
