If you didn’t already know, Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year! The lights, the decorations, the food, the outfits – I just love the magic that surrounds the whole season and I definitely get in to the Christmas spirit as early as possible. For me, this means starting my Christmas shopping as early as possible, getting it all done and dusted before December so I’m not stressing about those last minute gifts.
I thought I would put together some gift guides this year to help anyone who might be struggling with gift ideas. It can be difficult to buy gifts for certain people – either they have everything they could ever want/need, or they are fussy and particular about what they want, or they just don’t want anything at all!
I’m starting with my gift guide for the women in your life – be it your mum, your nan, your sister, your wife, or your friend, there’s something for everyone in this Christmas gift guide.
Food and Drink
This slate cheese board is perfect for that friend or relative who loves to throw a dinner party! I love a bit of slate tableware, and this would have looked beautiful at our private chef dinner party for Craig’s birthday. The personalisation just adds that little extra special touch, and will look lovely on any table at Christmas time.
I absolutely love tea! I know it’s such a “mum” thing to enjoy, but I do love a good cuppa! But I’ve never owned a teapot. To be fair, I do like my tea boiling hot, but I drink so much of it, it would be nice to make a pot and not have to keep boiling the kettle all day. And I know that quite a few of my female friends and family would also quite like a teapot too! I love this happy teapot design – it’s so cute and smiley, it would make the best addition to your kitchen worktop. Even better, you can personalise it for the favourite person in your life too!
Gin is a very fashionable drink at the moment, so having a bottle in your house at Christmas time is a must for any guests that might pop over for drinks – or even just for yourself enjoying a nice cosy night in front of a Christmas film. I have to admit I’ve never had gin before, so it’s definitely something I will try this year. And where better to start than with this gorgeous pink gin! I love that the bottle can be personalised for that someone special in your life. This would make a great Secret Santa gift, or something to take to parties for the host that is a little bit extra special. I for one have a sister who is going to love me for bringing this out at Christmas time!
Cosy and Comfy
What better way to enjoy anice cosy night in than iwith this ingenious product! It starts off as a pillow, but can be unfolded into a HUGE blanket! This is perfect for snuggling on the soft with your hot chocolate and mince pie whilst watching your favourite film. I also think this makes a great gift for someone who travels a lot, or even for someone who might spend a lot of time in hospital. Because it folds out into a blanket, it’s great as an extra layer, or home comfort, but doesn’t take up too much space. I know my nan would have really appreciated this when she was going through her chemo treatment.
What makes it even more special is that Secret Pillows are a craft item made by women in India who face social and economic challenges. The money they earn through the making and selling of Secret Pillows enables them to pay for their child’s education, food, medicine and other essentials. The women are affiliated to an NGO or charity who provide a safe space in which they come together to receive training, support, and materials to produce Secret Pillows. These groups of women are called Maker Networks and Secret Projects currently works with Maker Networks in six Indian states.
I am in love with this beautiful sweatshirt! Not only does it look great, but it sooooo cosy! Absolutely perfect for those cold nursery drop offs, and all the Christmas markets we’ll be visiting this year. The “Tea and Triumph” logo is a classic in the Ada & Alfred collection, but there are so many awesome gifts to choose from. The thing I love most about Ada & Alfred is the collection will suit absolutely anyone – I could gift this to my mum, my sister, my neighbour or my best friend and they’d all love it! I am absolutely keeping it for myself though, and adding another one to my Christmas list (if you’re reading this Craig, I would like the Motherhoodie next!). It also helps that the creator of Ada & Alfred, Alex, is the nicest person to deal with, and I’ve loved watching her grow her small business. I am a big fan of supporting small, so love being able to shop with such a wonderful person who works so hard to create a great brand.
I love receiving new dvds for Christmas, and this Pitch Perfect boxset is top of my list for a stocking filler this year! I haven’t seen any of the films before, so I am looking forward to getting the girls round, opening my bottle of pink gin and watching these films back to back! I’ve heard great things about it from my friends so it’s definitely not a present that will disappoint!
Cool and Creative
These earrings are just absolultey gorgeous and I think they are perfect for a new mum. Not only are they beautiful, they are 9ct white gold, so they are a good, strong metal that you know is not only going to last, but is going to be kind to your ears. The thing I love most about them is they are small, meaning your baby can’t grab at them (or at least, is less likely to!) and the chances of your earrings being ripped out is considerably less! I love wearing these because they are small enough not to irritate me, but still look so lovely when I’m wearing them. Definitely top of my Christmas list for friends with small babies!
I love a retro gift as much as the next person, but I think these notebooks are just amazing. Becky upcycles old books to create new, useful products that you will come to love. You can choose your own cover from a selection in the shop, and then include a variety of different things on the inside – so far I’ve got a notebook, a recipe book, a Slimming World food diary and a blogging diary! I actually sent Becky my own book for the blogging diary and she created a unique notebook just for me! Honestly, she is amazing and this is such a brilliant gift idea for a stocking filler or secret Santa present.
I’ve followed Sketchy Muma for a long time and absolutely love Anna’s art. It speaks to me in a way that only a parent would really understand. She has so many gorgeous prints to choose from, and I actually picked this one for my husband for our anniversary. It sums up our evenings after the kids have gone to bed at the moment. Hopefully I’ll find one in my stocking from Father Christmas this year…
I first came across Phoenix and the Cub after winning a prize in a competition, but I am in love with her work already! This art work looks great up in Henry’s nursery, but I think it would also look fab in someone’s office or study, or hung in your bedroom. I love how it celebrates breastfeeding but in a subtle way, and is just totally gorgeous. If you want to give a gift that is creative, different and cool, go and check out the other items as there are so many great things to choose from, including decorations for your tree!
I love this notebook from Belo and Me as a little stocking filler for your favourite Mama! Something like this is so useful in the early days for recording things like feeds, nappy changes, what gifts you’ve received, or just for jotting down funny, lovely memories of you and your new baby. A perfect Christmas gift for a new mum or mum-to-be!
I hope you find something on this list for those important people in your life – I’d love to hear if this has inspired you and if you buy anything I’ve featured today.
Disclosure: I have been gifted products marked with a (*) in return for inclusion in this guide. I have not received any payment other than the product and I have only included things I am genuinely happy to recommend. I may have also used affiliate links in this post, which just means that I earn a few pennies when you buy something from that link. Happy Christmas shopping!
