Another month, another bump update. Can you believe I’m half way through this pregnancy already? Gosh, time has really flown by and D-Day is really creeping up on us. I can’t wait!
How Many Weeks Am I?
At the time of writing this, I am 20 weeks pregnant (I did it on time for once!!)
Days Till Due Date
Estimated Size of Baby
Baby is the size of an a banana! They are 6.5 inches long and 10.1 ounces.
My Weight Gain
So I seem to have had a huge weight gain in the past four weeks – either I’m eating too much cake, or baby is massive! I’ve now put on 13lbs in total – almost a stone.
Symptoms So Far
The last four weeks have not been great. Well, that’s strictly not true. The last 3 weeks have been fine, the last week has not been great! I’ve been feeling very shakey and light headed, and am worried about low blood sugar. I’ve been trying to eat more, but I feel like I’m eating constantly anyway, but I definitely need to up my water intake, so I’m trying really hard to do that. But it’s something I need to talk to my midwife about I think.
Since my last update I’ve only had one appointment, but it was a pretty big one – my 20 weeks anomaly scan. I was very excited to see the baby again and see how they were getting on. We arrived on time (early, actually) at the correct hospital this time, and waited patiently to go in. I felt a bit more nervous this time, I think because I still haven’t felt any movements, I was anxious to know that baby was wriggling away. And wriggle they were! The sonographer managed to get most of the measurements and photos but had a bit of trouble when it came to getting all the different photos of the heart – baby would just not stay still! Eventually she was able to get what was needed.
Then she asked us if we’d like to find out the sex – yes please! We found out that we are having another little boy and we are beyond excited about it!
Still no proper cravings yet, other than food in general! Still having an aversion to olives, although it’s not as bad as it was! I’ve been pretty lucky this time round.
I feel like my bump is more spread out this time, but that could be due to the fact I had a bit of extra “fluff” around the middle to begin with anyway! It feels quite big, but comparing to photos of when I was pregnant with Alfie, I don’t think it’s much different.
Any Stretch Marks?
No new ones that I’ve noticed, lots of old ones starting to reappear.
Nope, still no movements 🙁
Well, we can now reveal it’s a boy!
What I’ve Been Struggling With
Tiredness and hunger mostly. Also I’m starting to feel pains if I over do it, and because of bump getting bigger, it’s a struggle to bend down now! Hanging up the washing takes me twice as long!
What I’ve Been Surprised About
That I feel quite different to my first pregnancy and how much more I’m worrying in this pregnancy, mostly about my labour.
Difference to First Pregnancy
I feel less tired, but most likely I am exhausted but I just don’t have the time to let myself be! I’m also worrying more and seem to have so many extra appointments!
I have a consultant appointment tomorrow and then no more appointments until November when I next see the midwife!
