As promised last week, my times to treasure post this week is going to be a bit more packed as we have an epic fun filled weekend!
It started off on a fab note on Friday evening when we saw Father Christmas right outside our front door!! Every year our local Rotary Club organise an event where Father Christmas travels the roads of the town, visiting all the residents. Friday night it was our turn! We originally thought that Alfie would probably be in bed by the time the big man arrived, so as much as I wanted to take part, I didn’t think we would.
Then we got home a little later than normal and I was home to give Alfie his bath for once! So Alfie and I were having a great time splashing around in the bath when we suddenly hear from Daddy:
“Father Christmas is outside”
Cue mad rush to get Alfie out the bath, dried and into something suitable to take him outside. We quickly rubbed him down with a towel and stuck his dressing gown on him. He had no pjs, slippers or coat on as I ran outside with him – he wasn’t even wearing a nappy!! I had no shoes on either, so it was lucky Father Christmas stopped right outside our door! We went and said hello, and Alfie gave him a big wave and a smile. Father Christmas told Alfie that he had to make sure he was asleep on Christmas Eve so he could deliver all this presents – lets see if he takes this advice!
Although we were outside for less than a minute, it really was a wonderful moment and I’m glad we managed to catch him!
Saturday was our big visit to see Father Christmas. We went to Colchester Zoo to one of their Magic of Christmas events. I will be doing a separate post with a review of this event, but we had a wonderful but tiring day!
Sunday was spent with our friends doing our annual Christmas lunch! There is 9 of us that started this tradition 2 years ago – basically we all get together and one couple hosts everyone else for Christmas dinner. We have a traditional turkey dinner followed by some great games and secret santa! Craig and I hosted the first one, which is where we announced our pregnancy!
This year was no different – we had a really fun day, lots of lovely food and some great laughs. Our hosts were fabulous, and made such an effort to give us all a good day.
It was another long and tiring weekend though, and I am thoroughly exhausted! I’m so excited for next weekend though, but I have lots to prepare for Christmas so this week is going to be busy in the evenings sorting the house into a presentable state for our guests.
I won’t be doing a times to Treasure post next week as it’s Boxing Day, so I’ll be back with my next post in the New Year, where I’ll do a bumper roundup of the Christmas festivities!
