Times to Treasure – Week 8

It’s been 12 weeks since I returned to work after maternity leave and my god it has flown by! Overall it’s been fine going back to work and the transition has been easy – but there have been a few tough moments  (which you can read about here).

I’m really pleased that we have managed to keep up our Times to Treasure mission of doing something fun every weekend and making the most of our days off as a family.

This weekend was a little quieter than others. Craig and I had a grown up games night on Friday which included cocktails, crisps and Cranium! We had a great time including inventing our own cocktail called Jones Juice – amaretto, vodka, cointreau, grenadine, cranberry juice, orange juice and lemonade! It was delicious but lethal, so there were a few sore heads in the morning.

Because of this we had a chilled Saturday. We did a little shopping in the morning followed by a trip to McDonald’s to soak up that leftover alcohol in my system!

In the afternoon we took Alfie for his first big boy haircut! We took him to this lovely gentleman’s barbers in our town. They were so good with Alfie. He started sitting on the chair on his own but got a bit fidgety so I ended up sitting him on my lap instead. He was still quite wriggly but the barbers was excellent – very patient and great at keeping Alfie calm. Alfie looks very smart with his new ‘do!

We then did a quick trip to the park and home for dinner. Alfie’s new dining booster seat had arrived that morning, so it was a perfect opportunity to try it out at dinner time. Alfie loved being at the table with us. He looked like a proper grown up!

On Sunday Alfie was up super early at 5am! We haven’t had an early start for a while so I was a bit grumpy. He did go back down at about 7 but I was wide awake by then so caught up on some blogging.

We went out and bought Alfie some winter bits – hat, gloves, dressing gown and slippers – now the temperature has dropped.

We then spent the day with Craig’s family – lovely Sunday roast dinner and playing with the kids and doggies.

All in all a quiet but good weekend.

What did you get up to?
