So life has been pretty hectic in May, but isn’t it always? We’ve managed to not do a lot, but also do loads! Even though it’s been busy, we’ve also had some time to just chill as a family and potter about not doing very much. We definitely haven’t used our time wisely, as we really should be packing boxes ready to move next month, but hey ho, we’ll get there (even if it means staying up to 2am the morning of the move to get everything done…that’s just how we Jones’ roll….)
Here’s what we have been treasuring this month:
Mum’s Night Off
Although not technically a family activity, it’s always good for Mummy to get a night off and enjoy herself, to appreciate why she really shouldn’t be allowed out with unlimited alcohol! It was my friend Dani’s hen do, and we had a fab time starting with drinks at her place, a ride in a party bus, a lovely meal out, ending up with a VIP table at a local club. There was lots of drinks, laughter, Minnie Mouse ears and a penis balloon, which in my mind is the formula for a fabulous night!
We had a wonderful time meeting up with our friend and her little boy (our godson). There is only 6 weeks between them, so they have grown up together and it’s great when we can get together as they love seeing each other. I also seem to have converted another friend to babywearing! My friend is off to Santorini for her sister’s wedding this week, so she has borrowed my Connecta to help with all the hilly areas that a pram would be a major pain with. So far she is loving it, so here’s hoping for another convert 😉
May has been a great month for celebrations! Not only have we had a hen do, but we’ve also had the birthday party four our Godson’s 2nd birthday! It was a brilliant Paw Patrol themed party at a local soft play, and Alfie had the best time. My friend always knows how to throw a good party, but there was lots of food, cake, masks, and doggy airwalkers (that it turns out Alfie was actually petrified of!) Alfie wore himself out throwing himself round the soft play and bouncing on the trampoline as much as he could!
We also attended a family christening, which is always a lovely opportunity to see Craig’s family and catch up as we don’t see each other very often with everyone living all over the country! I got to have baby snuggles with the newest member of the gang, which made me extremely broody, and got me told off by Craig for hogging him. Alfie was a little gem, and was so good throughout the church service, and had a great time playing with all the other children. We’ve really seen his confidence soar in the past few weeks, and he’s now not so shy when he meets new people, or people he knows. It used to take him a while to “warm up” in new settings, but now he’s off and away before you’ve had a chance to stop him! Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of him in his outfit which is a shame because it was adorable.
Bank holiday fun
Everyone loves a bank holiday, and May has treated us well with two this month! I don’t actually remember what we did for the first one (Craig was working so it would have just been me and Alfie!) but as Craig was off this bank holiday Monday, we made the most of it!
On Saturday we went round dad and step-mum’s house, and his brother and step-sister came over with their kids. We had food, ice cream and a paddling pool, and the kids were in their element! After an initial pour down in the morning, we were very lucky to have such sunny weather.
We also went to a bbq on Sunday to celebrate my brother’s 30th birthday. My parents always host a good barbie, and there was TONS of good food and drink to be had! Alfie had such a good time playing with all his cousins, and devouring the birthday cake made by my sister. Monday saw us visiting friends and catching up with new babies and bumps!
June is going to be very exciting for us, so I’ll look forward to updating you all next month 🙂
