You may have seen this tag circulating around the blogger-sphere recently. It’s an ironic one since bedtime is the worst part of my day, but I thought it would be fun to give it a go! A post about my bedtime routine rather than Alfie’s for once. Thanks to Lisa from Baby Not Included for the tag
1. Describe your usual bedtime routine
Bedtime on a weekday is usually pretty standard. Alfie is in bed by the time I get home from work, so I come home, have dinner, and sit in front of the TV/laptop until about 10pm. I always, always have a cup of tea just before bed. Some might think that’s a bit silly putting all that caffeine in my body just before bed, but I cannot sleep without my tea! Sometimes I take it to bed and go on my phone for a bit before I go to sleep but I try not to as I stay up too late! My make up always comes off and a trip to the toilet is a must before snuggling up in bed. Weekends are a bit different as Alfie tends to go to bed later which in turn means we go to bed later!
2. What are your favourite pyjamas?
My nan bought me a pair of brown, cotton pjs about 15 years ago and I love them! The bottoms are actually long enough and haven’t shrunk in the wash and the top is long too. I struggle to find pjs that fit properly as they’re never long enough! I’m gutted a can’t etc another pair though 🙁
3. What is your current bedtime reading?
Whatever pops up on my Facebook news feed! Since having Alfie I struggle to get my head in a book as I lose concentration more easily. I think I need to get back to actual books rather than kindle ones.
4. What would I find on your bedside table?
I don’t have a bedside table, but rather a drawer. It contains all manner of crap – birthday cards, thank you cards, chargers for phones I no longer own, passport photos all-day a stick of rock from a hen do in Brighton 2 years ago. I should probably have ago clear out…
5.What scent makes you sleepy?
Hmm I don’t think I have a particular sleepy scent!
6.What is your usual bedtime and wakeup time?
Weekdays I try and be in bed by 10.15pm as I get up at 5.45am. Weekends tend to be around 11.30/midnight but we don’t get up until 8/8.30 unless we have somewhere to be.
7. What are your top three bedtime products?
Simple cleanser to remove my make up, Simple Toner and some Vaseline for my lips!
8. What is your most common sleeping position?
Craig and I always laugh as we have the same ritual every night – we start with me lying on Craig’s chest, then we turn so I am little spoon and Craig is big spoon, then we turn over and switch and then eventually I turn back so our backs are to each other. I always have to sleep on my side though, curled up with the duvet hooked under the leg!
9. Do you have anything you like to take to bed with you?
I used to have a Teddy – a gorilla called Gilla – that I took to bed with me every night, even after I’d moved in with Craig. He has been relegated to the top of the wardrobe now so the only thing I take to bed is a hairband so I can tie my hair up at night if it’s annoying me.
10. What is your worst bedtime habit?
Definitely being on my phone! It’s the last thing I look at before I sleep and the first thing I look at when I wake up. I even look at it if I wake up in the night!! I really do need to break the habit.
Now it’s my turn to nominate! I tag:
